Construction to begin on new Isaac’s Inn

After more than three years of fundraising and planning, construction of the new Isaac’s Inn is scheduled to begin next week.

Jeff Goff, the camp administrator, says demolition of the current dining hall will begin as soon as summer camp closes on Saturday.

“I’ve spent the better part of the last four years planning, raising money and generally thinking about getting the new Isaac’s Inn put into place,” Jeff said on Facebook last week. “It’s just been the last few days that I’ve started getting emotional when I think about the old Isaac’s Inn not being here anymore. This old girl has served the campers and staff of Maywood Christian Camp very well for 50 years….she will be honored over the next several days!”

The current dining hall is the last of the original buildings to be replaced. The new dining hall will be large enough to fit all of the campers inside and will include a larger kitchen.

“As I continue to honor Isaac’s Inn I think of how many campers and staff entered this room hungry and left feed,” Jeff said earlier this week on Facebook. “As best as I can tell some of these benches and table are original to the building of Isaac’s Inn back in the 1960’s. This room has feed many over the years, both physically and spiritually…..this old girl will be missed!”

If construction remains on schedule, the new Isaac’s Inn dining hall will be completed by May 2017, just in time for summer camp.
